King's interior was pretty decent. The dash is free of cracking or sun fade, and only has a couple small areas where the adhesive has let go.
I shouldn't have much to do in here, but can't wait to get started!

The previous owner had an aftermarket sound system installed. He gave me the factory radio, but explained the reason why he replaced it. The factory speakers were completely worn out, so he went to replace them and discovered that they each had their own amplifier. The factory radio didn't have enough power by itself to run his replacement speakers, so the decision was made to install an aftermarket amplifier and subwoofer as well as a Bluetooth capable head unit. I'm usually not a fan of unsightly aftermarket systems, preferring the factory look and feel, but there's no arguing its an improvement. I decided it fit with King's theme as a lightly modified driver's car, so it stays. Now I've got to figure out how it works...
A few other interior projects I didn't take pictures of, but found this video.

Here's a short video update on my progress with King.

The instrument cluster turned out really well! The digital portion in the center had become hard to read over time, which fading is a common problem with these dashboards. Thankfully, there are places that you can send them to to be refurbished, or if you are handy you can tackle it yourself. I decided to send mine to Gary's Corvettes out of Georgetown, TX. When it comes to electronics, I'll usually farm it out. He sent it back without fuss, and it looks like new! More importantly, it makes King feel like new.Â

With the side mirrors reinstalled, the door panels could be put back. That pretty much finishes up the interior! There wasn't much to do here, really. I did fit a new cover on the middle armrest and replace the headliner on the roof panel, but overall the condition was really good for a 30 year old car. It is a good place to spend time. The seats are comfortable and supportive, and the cabin feels very driver-oriented the way it should. I've always been a fan of black on black.
