Meet Mr. F. That's his name, don't ask why. Your guess is as good as mine. I haven't actually seen the car in person as I am writing this, because my brother bought it and picked it up for me in Alabama and is holding it at his house in Tennessee until I get there to pick it up. I'll road trip it home and you will find out later this year what I have in mind for it. That's the real mystery.
What you are looking at is a 1994 Ford Mustang GT. It has 77,000 miles on it, but the 5.0 engine has only 3,000 miles since it was tweaked by a speed shop out of Georgia a couple years ago. I have the dyno sheet from December 2021 that shows 291hp/325lbft at the rear wheels, which calculates to approximately 375hp/375lbft at the crank. Not bad! The engine is original to the car, now with the recently added aftermarket goodies on it. I was told that the previous owner wanted more power. He's the one who told me, and I can't find fault with that. However, he is now in his 70's and was having a harder time getting in and out of it, so it went up for sale.
Yay for me!

After picking up Mr. F in Tennessee, I stopped in Texas to visit family there. My son, who is going to college, drives a 1993 Mustang LX 4cyl automatic convertible named "Bill" with whom he has a love hate relationship. It's hard to believe these two cars were manufactured one year apart. His has only 90,000 miles on it.
Here are some pictures from my trip....
Anywho...The fourth generation Mustang was built between 1994 and 2004 and is the last vehicle to use the very old Fox platform (which the Mustang first used in 1979). For 1994 Ford went the economical route and essentially rebodied the 3rd generation car, designing an all new interior and exterior to cover up the old platform. With the new design, some features were added such as replacing the rear drum brakes with 4 wheel disc brakes, which were previously only available on the Cobra model. In 1996, Ford replaced the aged 302 V8 (5.0L was the rounded up nomenclature with which Ford optimistically badged the car.) with a dual overhead cam 4.6l V8. But in 1994, the newly bodied Mustang was still powered by the aftermarket friendly 5.0. It is an engine in the long history of Ford that sparked the imagination of tuners and their desire to squeeze as much performance as possible out of every cubic inch. Like Chevrolet's 350, the 302 from Ford spawned a new world of speed parts, and vendors were as eager to sell them as customers were to buy them.
Mr. F came with a whole pile of recent records dated to the beginning of 2022 for the aftermarket parts used to help his 5.0 make more power. Let's geek out a bit reading this list together.
-Deeep breath in-
Ported upper and lower GT-40 intake, BBK 70mm throttle body and mass air meter, cold air intake with K&N filter, Ford Racing lifters and timing chain, Scorpion rocker arms, Ford 24# injectors, AFR cylinder heads with ARP bolts, BBK shorty headers, Comp Cams camshaft, computer chip, 2.5 inch exhaust with Flowmaster Force 2 mufflers, Ford Racing clutch, 3.73 locking rear with reinforced cover, new Bullitt style wheels, and a Cobra emblem for the front grill.
Honestly, I can't think of much I would have done differently, except removing the cobra and putting the running horse back on. Which I did do. Too much needing to explain to strangers with, "No, it's not a real Cobra". Kinda distracts away from what a hot rod it is! Let's focus on the positive.
The previous owner did to this car what anyone with a wallet and red blood cells would have done in the '90's to make it faster.
Let's get to the reason I bought this car. I needed a winter project. More than that, when I first saw this car the clouds parted, the angels sang, and I saw a vision. We can talk more about that that later.
I feel like the car needs something extra. Maybe new wheels and tires. Definitely it should be lowered with a more aggressive stance. Possibly a different exhaust setup. Maybe I'll even rebody it and do a color change. You'll have to wait and see. Love it or hate it, something new is on the horizon for Mr. F....
Smoothly changing subjects for now, take a peek underneath the car. It has clearly spent all of it's life in the southern states. Georgia and Alabama I know for sure.
So clean.
