The frame and underbody are so clean and original, pictures tell the story. I sandblasted everything and coated the frame, springs, and axles with a direct to metal semi-gloss frame paint. It's very tough and looks good.
I took out the transmission, which has been rebuilt, and transfer case. I put new seals in the transfer case and converted it to a dual stick. No reason except I thought it was cool to be able to isolate each axle and it looks cool in the cab. I sourced a TCI convertor which they built to spec for what I will have.

I spent some time degreasing the underside of the body, removing the heat shields and getting everything prepped for undercoating. I was so impressed again with how clean and dry this California truck is. there was only minor surface rust in the areas where road spray took its toll, but everything else showed the factory coatings in remarkably good condition. After finishing the undercoating, I reinstalled the heat shields, very pleased with the results.
